The President speaks (2) 26/08/2005

The minimum results expected from the team from the Birkirkara and Mosta games were a draw and a win, and this minimum was convincingly achieved. However with a little more care and attention we could easily have gotten maximum points, yet in these early stages we should not be too hard on the team. Especially since the team has already displayed a marked improvement from the opening game of the season, the effort for which the players and coaches are to be commended. Our crop of youngsters plus a number of experienced players are combining well in what is a very promising start for us. However sterner tests are yet to come and we must be on our guard against excessive euphoria and complacency.
Our supporters have turned out in good numbers, and we thank them for it. It is important that the support is sustained so that the players will be able to feel the enthusiasm of their fans, and thus respond accordingly. There will however be some off moments during the season (very few it is hoped!) and it is during such bad patches that the passion of our supporters will need to be felt more than ever. It is important that everyone realizes that we must all stick together at all times if we are to reach our desired goals. I am confident that this will be so, and that the results will as a consequence be attained.
We have a couple of tough games coming up, with seasoned campaigners Valletta and Floriana to be tackled as opposed to promotion newbies Hamrun and Mosta. These games will be an important verification of the progress our team has made, and is making. We have a couple of weeks to prepare for them in earnest, so let us hope that we will make it in good spirit and good health.
Until then,
Best Regards,
Mark Sciriha
